Rules of Conduct

The Media Center is a place of study and as such, requires personal responsibility and respect for the equipment, material and others using the Media Center.  While food and beverages are permitted at the tables,
NONE should be brought to the sofa or computer areas.

Since our primary function is locating and using academic information, accessing inappropriate or unapproved sites will lead to immediate removal from the computer and banishment for one week.

Circulation Procedures

The Kearny High School Media Center provides books and periodicals for student and faculty loan.  Books from the regular collection and past issues of magazines may be borrowed for two weeks and are renewable.  The Media Center hours are 7:15 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.  Passes are required and must be presented at the desk immediately upon arrival. Student barcoded IDs are needed for checkout.

Return books, magazines and video materials by depositing them in the
Return Book Slot in the circulation desk.

Overdue and Lost Materials:

Overdue notices are sent to the student through the English teacher.  If the material is not returned, a letter will be sent home; if material continues to be overdue, the report card will be withheld.  For graduating seniors, the diploma will be withheld.  Borrowing privileges are denied while an overdue obligation exists.  No fines are charged for overdue materials, but full replacement cost is charged for lost material. The charge for lost AV materials is the current full price of the material.  Lost magazines and pamphlets are $4.00 each.
